The Great Betrayal

Fernando Torres. Hero or villain? Liverpool fans had recently bared witness to a rancorous transfer, the likes of which have rarely been seen in football.  Fernando Torres decision to swap from Liverpool to Chelsea dented the pride of the region and sent all Liverpool fans into despair. The once darling of Liverpool, he was being compared to the likes Ian Rush for his masterful performance as he spearheaded the attack for Liverpool, creating opportunities and doing what he does best, scoring great goals.

The epic betrayal was complete, when Chelsea offered Fernando Torres an offer he could not refuse. The man who once dawned the Red No.9, now wears a blue No.9. In a press interview, he answered the question fans have been waiting to hear, ‘Why did u leave’? He claims that his decision to move to The Blues was fueled by the fact that Liverpool were not in a position to achieve what he wanted, trophies and more trophies. However, with his recent performance for The Blues, many doubt if he will be able to lift all that silverware that he coveted so much.

What is your take on this?

Should Torres be remembered for his contribution to Liverpool and be given a place in the hall of fame or continued to be jeered each time he gets within 2 feet of the ball?

And have Carlo Ancelotti and Roman Abramovich bought a dud? Is Torres yesterday’s man?
